From cluttered drawer to confident shopper
Oops, I Bought It Again keeps a running list of what you already own so the next time you're at the store, you can check before you buy. Here's how the whole thing fits together.
Start at the dashboard
The dashboard gives you a snapshot: how many items you're tracking, which ones are running low, how many categories you cover, and how many things are on your shopping list. It's your home base.
Add your items
Click 'Add item' to log anything you own. Give it a name, pick a category, set the quantity, choose where you keep it, and add optional notes. You can set a low-stock threshold so the app warns you when you're about to run out.
Track storage locations
Built-in locations like Pantry, Bathroom Cabinet, Hallway Closet, and Garage get you started fast. Need something more specific? Add a custom location like 'Top shelf behind the cereal' — because that's where things actually live.
Search before you shop
The search bar scans item names, categories, and storage locations. Type 'USB-C' and discover you already own five. Type 'olive oil' and breathe easy — there are two in the pantry.
Build your shopping list
In Shopping Check, tap any item to add it to your shopping list. The list lives at the top of the page so you can head to the store with a plan, not a hunch.
Reset when you want a fresh start
The Reset button in the app header restores the sample data and clears your changes. It's handy if you've been experimenting and want to start over with a clean slate.
Tips for getting the most out of it
- Do a quick sweep of one room at a time — add items as you go.
- Set realistic low-stock thresholds so warnings are meaningful.
- Use the notes field for things like brand preferences or ‘don't buy again.’
- Check Shopping Check before every grocery run.
